The number of subscription boxes available today is overwhelming. Boxes of makeup, clothes, cleaning supplies & knick-knacks that no human truly needs. I think it’s fairly ridiculous at this point. However, baby marketing is strong. The time it takes to research and find all of the “best” things for baby is exhausting, on top of the sheer exhaustion of just existing as a new momma. In fairness, I do enjoy the research and picking out products myself; however, there is one situation where I’ve found a subscription box to be totally worth it: BOOKS. (See my Lovevery Play Gym review for the only other subscription box I could get behind!) In this house, we love books so it was no surprise that buying books for our babe would be a passion project of mine. And thus, my obsession with Literati Kids was born.
Loving Books, A Mom’s Example
While growing up my mom always had me by one hand and a book in the other. I learned to love books from her. When I was very young I just “liked” books; however, at about16 or so, I became enamored. Being able to drive really opened up my world. I would take myself to Barnes & Noble for the day and roam up and down the aisles, perusing every single spine. I have to admit, I always did judge a book by its cover. It was around this age that I also began to write in a journal. I was so obsessed with reading and writing that I would stay up night after night, soaking up the stories and then rewriting my own. I want to set that same example of book-loving for Tuck.
Pre-Baby Book Love
Before I even had children I knew I would work hard to instill that same love of reading in them. When I was pregnant with Tucker I purchased him my favorite childhood book, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, and a set of dragon bookends. Priorities, right!? When he was about two months old I set out on researching the best, and most unique, books for littles and I was met with a lot of options & opinions. In the midst of all the noise about baby books, I stumbled upon Literati Kids. I originally skimmed right over because it was a subscription and I was initially opposed, however; after some research I decided trying it for one month couldn’t hurt. I could always cancel. Boy, was I in for a happy surprise!
The BEST Baby Books
Honestly, I did not have a wildly elaborate expectation for this subscription box, assuming it would be standard baby books, that were considered “favorites”. I was absolutely not prepared for the level of INCREDIBLE that this box of books delivered. The packaging, the delivery and the book quality is all top notch. Even something as simple as a brightly branded teal box, adds a unique aspect of excitement for us every couple of months.
Each book is age-appropriate and extremely unique. They all hail some sort of sensory or interactive feature, and that is a big-win for this momma. Even at just two-months old Tucker actually engaged with these books. The tactile features are just so impressive. I love that you can customize the delivery timelines to your liking (I have it set at every 2 months) and it grows with your kiddo, changing up the book type for each new age group. It’s also so easy to send back the books you don’t want, and you’re only charged for the ones you keep. Speaking of charges, the prices are matched based on what the book sells for on Amazon, and each box has a breakdown so you can see specifics. I love that!
Building Book Loving Traditions
Today, at 4.5 months old, Tucker was actively involved in the unboxing of this month’s baby books! It was so exciting to see him reach out for the books, making my momma heart happy. I cannot wait to see how he continues to love this tradition of book unboxing as he gets older. Fostering a love for childhood reading is hard, but receiving a beautifully customized box of unique books sure helps! For us, it’s Literati for life. 🖤
