Tucker's Toy-Box

Amazon Baby Toys we LOVE at 3+ months

March 18, 2021

Oh goodness, this age is FUN! Tucker is really starting to enjoy toys, actively engaging with them and making movements to interact physically with them. That is so fun to see; and it also makes buying new toys a lot of fun! I’m always on the hunt for realistic toys that he will enjoy & also hopefully learn from. Below is our list of Tucker’s top toys at around the 3 month mark!

Lamaze Bitty Bite Bug Rattle

This little bug is a blast! There are some other toys on this list that have helped Tuck with his grabbing & holding skills, but I don’t think any have done it as well as this one. This little rattle has it all, the cartoon eyes that encourage baby babbling, the crinkle-sound wings, and teething “holders” that baby can easily grasp and bring to their mouth. All around, this thing is a shining star in our toy-box! Check out my IG highlight, Tuck’s Toys, to see some real examples of this toy in action.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

pros

  1. Easily handled by baby, encourages grasping
  2. Holds baby’s attention with cartoon features and crinkle wings
  3. Provides solid features for baby to teethe on

cons

  1. Not a single one!

Soft & Colorful Teething Rattles

I was overly excited when Tucker started holding things and shaking them around; however, I learned quickly that head-bonks were inevitable now. I went on a mission to find rattles that are soft, visually engaging and appropriate for teething. I won’t lie, I had to get down into the trenches of Amazon to find these, but oh.my.god they are amazing. While Jelly (you can read about him here) is still the #TopToy, these little guys sure are giving him a run for his money. The set comes with two, a raccoon & a fox, which we have appropriately named Rocky & Felix. Tucker is easily entertained by these, he can hold them himself, the ears crinkle, they have the cartoon faces that we love, they squeak AND rattle, and most of all, they are so soft. This is my #1 diaper bag toy, I don’t leave the house without it.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

pros

  1. Soft, visually dynamic and easy for baby to grab
  2. I love that they have the cartoon faces, I really look for toys that fit that bill as Tucker loves to babble at them
  3. Comes with 2 rattles, which is a great value compared to some of the other options

cons

  1. I cannot attest to the long-term quality just yet; however I could see how these might fray after a decent amount of wear. The seams are pretty visible so that’s something to watch out for
  2. The raccoon rattle has crinkle ears, but it also has a plush side, which can get kind of gross after baby gnaws on it for while. The Fox is all crinkle though, so just encourage chewing on those ears instead!

Grab & Spin Rattle

We are apparently all about the rattles at the moment! My mom actually got us this one for Christmas, and it was a great toy for Tucker to use in order to work up to grasping, even though it was a little early for him to truly enjoy it yet. This was the very first toy that he was able to wrap his little hand around and shake! We also love that this has the traditional “rattle” sound, so it’s engaging in both a tactile and an auditory way.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

pros

  1. Perfectly sized for baby hands
  2. Great colors, not obnoxious for parents to look at all the time
  3. Great “rattle” sound which is easy for baby to activate with the slightest movement

cons

  1. The only thing I don’t like about this rattle is how hard it is. It makes sense that it would be hard plastic, and for older babies that’s not a problem. For 3ish month olds though, it’s really easy for them to bonk themselves in the face. Overall, as long as it’s supervised, this rattle performs very well and is a favorite!

Baby Einstein High Contrast Infinity Block

What a gem. I actually bought this toy before Tucker was born. I was overly excited about this one so I pulled it out a bit too early, which almost gave me a bad impression of it; however, that all changed at 3 months old. I originally thought he might like it around the 2 month age because of the contrast, but it just didn’t do anything for him at that time. I am so glad I pulled it back out a little later because he now LOVES it. We actually have this attached to the top of our Lovevery Play Gym and it’s a huge win. The textures, animated faces and little mirrors on this block are great for curious little babes.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

pros

  1. High-contrast capture baby’s attention, and keep it!
  2. I love the different textures, mirrors and silly faces on this block, it’s totally customizable
  3. This will be a long-lived toy. Good for early ages, but will function as a tactile toy as babies grow and are able to fold it up their own.

cons

  1. Babies might not be thrilled with this one until a little later, around 3 months

BabyShaki Wooden Rattle

Okay, I love this little thing. Selfishly this one is probably more for me than Tucker because of how aesthetically pleasing it is. I love the wooden look, it’s so traditional and basic, which is a really nice break from the most of the bright colored plastic toys on the market. This brand has a lot of adorable toys on Amazon. We haven’t tried them all yet, but if they are as good as this little rattle, then I am sure they are winners. The ones I think would be the best are the BabyPoli and the BabyRaini.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

pros

  1. Simple clean design
  2. Easy to grasp for baby’s little hands
  3. Small so it doesn’t take up much space (big win for our house!)

cons

  1. It is wood so of course if baby happens to hit themselves in the head, it will hurt; but that’s the risk you take with a wooden toy.
